Concrete Patios

Cement Driveways
Concrete driveways are an important outdoor asset of every house so investing in it, making it better, may come with a couple of benefits. Your concrete driveway is not necessarily only the place where you park your car, but also a place where you greet your guests, perhaps where you play basketball with your children or where you want to host a once-in-a-while garage sale. Our concrete driveways bespeak strength and stamina.

Cement Sidewalks

We also offer long-lasting concrete sidewalk solutions, optimized to secure your safety, comfort, and pleasant ambient outside of your house. Concrete can be placed in slabs and pieced together can support everyday use as well as match nicely with the rest of your garden’s features. Walk with ease to your doorstep with concrete sidewalks that will not deteriorate any time soon and which are super easy to maintain and keep clean.

Cement Patios

Concrete is a favored material when it comes to building patios, for the same reason it is for building sidewalks and driveways. Patios are as much as opened to the elements as are sidewalks and driveways, but when made from concrete it can sustain any radical changes in temperatures, excessive cold or heat season, moisture or UV rays. Other materials can easily deteriorate when exposed to the elements, and that doesn’t have to be your patio, an area where you can enjoy a warm cup of tea in winter, or a summer picnic with your guests.

Concrete foundations are structurally better since they consist of concrete and not any other type of material like wood. If appropriately integrated in a building, they substantially add to the building’s overall strength and stamina. Our services include concrete foundations as well.

Cement Shop Slabs

A compelling way to secure comfort and safety for your shop’s interiors is making use of concrete shop floors. Concrete is a favored go-to solution for various retail shops, showrooms, warehouses and the rest. Since we use a heavy-duty sealant to finish off your concrete shop floors, you are guaranteed that your floor will remain intact no matter the number of people enters your shop in a day. It’s also super easy to clean.

Cement Foundations
Concrete garage slabs are a perfect option for those who want to do garage repairs in a convenient enough amount of time. Concrete garage slabs are cascaded into distinct casings and then set up into a frame in your garage. The installation process goes quickly. One slab at a time. You don’t have to wait for long until it gets dry. For concrete repair in Albany, NY please contact our partner company down in Albany.

Need Some Tips And Tricks On How To Work With Concrete?

1. First things first. Decide where you want to place a slab and measure the area. Bear in mind that you still need to figure out how water will drain. Lay the crush rock in a manner that mimics how you wish the top of your concrete to look once it’s done.

2. You’ll also need to calculate the amount of concrete it will take for your effort. There is a number of calculating tools online, which you can use after you do the needed measurements. However, add 10% to whatever number comes up in your calculations just to be on the safe side in case you’ve made some errors while measuring. It would be also good to contact a concrete contractor to give you additional hints how to pour the cement or which type to use.

3. If you’re adding a slab adjacent to another one that is already there, you may want to take care of the edges. Use duct tape or tuck tape where the slabs adjoin. Use plastic to protect sensitive assets such as close-by windows to where you are working at. It’s easy to make a mess when you work with concrete, especially all on your own.

4. You’ll need to wet the base before you pour in all that cement. This way you prevent the dirt from sucking all moisture out of the newly poured cement. The result is a more protracted and better curing process.

5. Be prepared for when the cement truck arrives. Don’t miss-manage your time before your building activity starts. Prepare and gather all the tools that you may need throughout the process so that work runs smoothly.

6. When you begin with cement pouring, it is optimal that you do one small section after another. You should be at least 3 people, yourself included, and given the size of your effort, increase the number of people who are willing to assist. Count 2 persons to place and screed the cement + 1 to float and fill in any low spots shortly after.

7. When you will be running the float, make an effort to approach from multiple number of angles. In fact, as many angles as possible. Such an approach will allow you tracing the low spots with ease. Simultaneously, you can push the larger pieces of aggregate back out in the concrete so that you cut down on chipping.

8. If you want your tools gleaming and glossy after working with concrete make sure that you clean them immediately after usage. You don’t want that cement to dry, neither those extra hours to get rid of the dried cement from your tools.

9. Don’t overdo with the trowelling. If you have a power trowel, opt for a shallow blade angle in the beginning of the process. If you go with a steep blade angle, this can bring a lot of unnecessary pressure on the concrete resulting in a slick surface. Watch out also for the blade speed. You should gradually increase the speed of the blade. Take it slow in the beginning and see how it goes. The outcomes of incorrect trowelling could be extended period for curing and possibly a weirdly-looking end result. And you’ll know when it gets weird.

10. Whether you want to achieve a rough finish, you should use a strong bristled broom and pass the top of the cement with it right before it is entirely set. You should avoid polished finish in areas where it can get slippery under certain conditions. You don’t want to break an arm or a hip.

11. Control joints. Remember that the concrete pad shrinks when setting. As is the industry standard, we as concrete contractors put in control joints to allow for the contraction. The average width of the cut lines is not more than 8ft x 8ft and will eventually help with any cracking occurring.

12. In order to get a stronger finish, and especially if the weather is warm or windy around, it is good that you slow down the curing process. To do that, use water to casually spray the new cement. You can do this for a period of a week. Talk with a concrete expert to get the curing part rightly done.

13. Last but not least, don’t forget to give the warnings there’s a fresh cement pad on your lawn. Place barricades to secure the area. Don’t walk over the new cement for at least 24 hours. No cars on it for the next 10-12 days please. Also, you should not use any ice melter on the new cement for the next two years, this if your slab is polished.

While the tips above can be your compass while doing cement work, bear in mind that equally important to following these is also the quality of the concrete you use and the season in which you work. You only have one go to get your cement job properly done, so it’s understandable if it might feel somewhat nerve-racking to achieve exactly what you have planned and imagined. If you don’t feel confident doing it yourself, you can always seek for some helping help. Our concrete experts at Concrete Elite Moose Jaw would be happy to help you out.
